Why is many of you get failed in SERU Assessment

8 November 2023

There are many reasons to highlight, basically mostly people come from different cultures and most of them are not from the United Kingdom so English is not their first language so it is difficult for some of them to read and understand every part of it, for SERU assessment you do need at least you have basic English understanding to pass the B1 and SERU Assessment. "According to TfL sources approximately 30,000 minicab drivers have failed to provide any evidence at this point. The regulator is set to contact those drivers as a priority to ensure they undertake both the Speaking and Listening tests, and safety, equality, and regulatory 'SERU' tests"(Google site)"

Lack of Reading Practice

Many Drivers fail because they don't have reading practice, during the test they get pressure and anxiety and start worrying, which lead them to make mistakes but my guess is that when they start doing their test their mind start negatively associating with the right or wrong testing because of lack of knowledge and start mixing up their knowledge with fear and fear start blocking their knowledge, so try to do some routine Mock test practice for example try exercising before your exam. This helps your conscious mind relax so you can tap the knowledge you have on the subject with greater results. so on that point, your inner critic will clearly be in charge when you head into testing.

Lack of understanding of the PHV Driver's Handbook

Transport for London (TfL) has created a 52-page PDF file that includes everything you need to know in order to pass the SERU examination. many people fail because they don't read the Driver's Handbook and don't understand the safety question, and test format, which lead them to negative marking, the SERU Assessment has an examination format with Mcq's, Drop and place Question, and reading a paragraph, specifically Understanding of the types of questions, time limits, and scoring criteria, they don't have enough knowledge to understand, how to do a practice effectively.

Exam Technique

It would be a shame, after all that revision, to mess up on exam day because of stress. So practice timed questions from fellows or Mock tests from sites, as much as you can. You'll know in advance how many questions are required, so work out how much time you’ve got for each. You don’t want to get carried away during the exam or stress over time right at the end.

One of the main causes of test failure is not only answering the all questions and just assuming you may know right what the question says, so read it carefully and look at the wider image, try to avoid splurging out everything you know so make your knowledge fit the question. and plan your all answers accordingly.

Time Management During Test

Timing is a very important aspect specifically in computerized testing systems there are things that need to understand and wait for certain commands to put things in place and order to achieve a target within the given period of time,

SERU test is an online test computer-based SERU test made up of multiple-choice questions and sentence completion (Drop and Place questions) within 45 minutes,

So this way for SERU Assessment it is very important to improve your knowledge, make sure you have read all the TPH handbook and grab the knowledge, you might also consider a tutor or Mock test if you are struggling, learning from different person sometimes can really help you to build your understanding of the areas in which you commonly fail, and Mock test will help you to do cretin task with the given period of time.

Avoid a shortage of time requires planning and setting exam goals, if you haven't planned your test before the exam you will not be able to complete your test effectively within the given period of time, so procrastination can be a significant barrier to effective time management, if you tend to put off tasks until the last minute, you may find that you don't have enough time to complete a task with the given time, so do some Mock test and increase your time management.
